Bat robots are robots that are inspired by the flying of bats. Bats are the only mammals able to fly and their unique wings enables them to perform the most difficult flying maneuvers. They have been researched for military use as well as an alternative for all existing flying mechanisms, in particular micro air vehicles. They provide much more maneuverability than insect robots or bird robots and have a reasonable size as well. But there are still many challenges in the understanding of bat flight and the implementation of a perfect bat robot.
